Vanilla was my first real 4-H doe back in
the day. We are very happy that she got to come back into the herd as
an older matron. She was never able to make it to an ADGA show in her
younger years and missed out on Nationals 2004 due to a tattoo error.
Finally after a little bit of paperwork she got to attend the open
dairy goat show at Eastern States Expo. Unfortunately, we didn't
notice that her buck kid that was left nursing on her was drying her
off so she didn't bag at all. (lets just say all kids are being pail
raised from now on!) Hopefully this year we'll get a nice
picture of her in milk! It seems like you never have the camera in
site when they're looking their best.
Vanilla has had a beautiful
mammary in the past years, milking quite well. She is quite a tank,
and a very upstanding, deep bodied old lady!!! We finally got that
daughter after many long years !!!! Vanilla will most
likely be retired this year as she had a rough spring kidding all by
herself on pasture. We went to feed and panicked as she wasn't
at the trough - on closer inspection, she was near her house
with two steaming kids at her feet, fresh out of mom. Vanilla
will retire at the farm.
